Values of several Australian shares received a check on Exchange this morning. the drop in prices ranging to 8d for Broken Hill and Od for Australian Glass. The banking section continued dull, though Commercials maintained activity i at an unaltered rate. Buying support was j lacking for Nationals of New Zealand. I which were 011 offer at £3 12/9. New | Zealands had unsupported sellers at £2 3/0. Gas and brewery shares were dull, ] though sellers of Christchurch Gas failed to reply to buyers at £1 12/6. A good volume of business was transacted in Australian Glass, Broken Hill and liume l'ipes, but values showed an easing, final sellers quoting at £4 12/8. £3 12/7 and £1 0/5 respectively. On the other hand, Australian Iron and Steel (pref.) were wanted at the stronger rate of £1 5/9. Zinc ordinaries had buyers up to £1 19/, and preferences were quoted from £2 1/ fo £2 1/6. New Zealand issues remained dull, with only fair buying support.
