HUNTER ESTATE.
SUPREME COURT FINDING. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. In a reserved judgment Mr. .Tustiee Smith to-day held that the legatees in the estate of the late Sir George Hunter were entitled to interest at 5 per cent per annum; also that the residuary estate was liable for the payment of estate and succession duty. To enable further consideration of the question of the allocation of the payments of interest to residuary income or capital, and other questions outstanding, the summons was adjourned.
Issues arising from the cstftte of the late Sir George Hunter were discussed in the Supreme Court on May 7, when the opinion of Mr. Justice Smith was sought on whether various legatees were entitled to lie paid interest on their respective legacies, and if so, at what rate of interest, and whether out of the capital or the income of the estate, and whether the residuary estate was liable for payment of estate and/or succession duty assessed in respect of a legacy of £5000 bequeathed in a codicil to a niece, Helen May Hunter.
