ELLERSLIE TRACK.
A QUIET MORNING. LANDLUBBER AND TE HAL After a very heavy frost overnight the weather was fine for training at Lllerslie this morning. No. 2 grass track was open and the going was in excellent order. Landlubber and Teddy Boy were the first to work, being timed to run six furlongs in 1.15 4 : o. They covered the last half mile in 50s and Landlubber had the advantage at the cncl. These horses are to fulfil their engagements at Wanganui and are expected-to leave on Monday. Teddy Boy is temporarily under the care of It. McTavish, who will have charge of him on the Southern trip. Horowhenua reeled off half a mile in 52 l-ss, covering the last three furlongs in 39 2-ss. ' His stablemate Horotiu sprinted -well over half a mile, which occupied 50 4-ss. H. Rama is expected to arrive back from Riccarton to-morrow. Te Hai and Lord Val registered a good gallop over a round, which they completed in 1.43 2-5. Te Hai was in front at the finish, after running his. last six furlongs in 1.18 1-5. Both these horses will compete at the Opotiki meeting on the King's Birthday: T"T Trevace, who recently returned from Svdney, had his first sprint this morning, registering 38s for three furlongs. He went very evenly and was finishing on nicely. Santoft had Golden Spalii as a companion over seven furlongs, run in 1.32 3-5, the last six being covered in 1.19 and the final half mile in 54 l-ss. Santoft finished in front. • Solas (T. Williams) gave a good display over two pony hurdles and afterwards cleared two of the bigger ones in good style. King Ara (T. Williams) was sent over a couple of pony hurdles twice and made a satisfactory showing for a beginner.
