TE AROHA HORSES.

OFBTIKI CANDIDATES. ! ST. A. SWNEY'S TEAM. I AUTUMN ROSES'S LAST FOAL. • i The Te Aroha-trained horses engaged at the Opotiki meeting are Guy Rose, Keith Lu, Lagoon, Heskertoon, Mungacre and Royal Secret. All are well forward. Mr. P. A. Swney's trio, Uiungatoon, Lagoon and Mungacre, came through the Ellerslie meeting in good trim, and further wins for this stable may yet be registered before the end of the racing season. Considering the very light work that liad been allotted Yal Watch during the past few weeks, the Valkyrian mare's performance in the Remuera Hurdles with 11.8 was Full of merit, as the race was run in record time. If she is taken on the southern tour this winter she is very likely to pay her way. The well-known sportsman Mr. Hanks, who is now living in Te Aroha, has a rising two-year-old gelding by Spear Dance from the Marble Arch mare Flitter. He is a sturdily set up juvenile, well grown, and showing plenty of power. He stands on exceptionally good limbs, with flat bone and clean hocks. Mr. A. E. Lennard has named his rising two-year-old filly by King Lu—Autumn Rose, Regal Rose. She is well grown and shows plenty of quality. There is reason to expect that she will prove a worthy relative to Master .O'Rorke, Lucy Rose and Gay Rose. She is the last of the Autumn Rose (Sou'it —Yieux Rose) line, as the lattefr died in September, 1934. Mazir is executing regular work on the tracks and should prove equal to standing a strong preparation. His tasks during the week have not been of a very exacting nature, but the Whirlwind gelding is going along all right. Mustang, who scored a convincing win in. the second division of the Fitzroy Handicap at Ellerslie, was bred by Mr. E. Mayo, of Waihou, who recently leased him to H. Dulieu, of New Plyomuth. Mustang's daifi, Lady Ledbury, is by Marble Arch from a mare by Gluten. Mr. Mayo has a rising two-year-old filly by Acre from Lady Ledbury, who is better grown than her half-brother at the same age, and she shows quality. She will probably be raced by her owner in due course.
