TOWN PLANNING SCHEME.
IMPROVEMENTS AT SUVA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) SUVA, June 8. The lately appointed Suva Town Bonrd, which includes several engineers in its pcrsonue?, is entering upon an ambitious programme of town planning. At a special meeting last week a report by a committee, recommending the widening cf Renwick' Road, which so far has but two concrete buildings on one side of it. was adopted. The committee also recommended that the Government be asked to pass a short bill providing the machinery for the acquistion of land required to realign the streets of the town. The widening of Kenwick Road is a work that lias long been desired by the public and the board's businesslike attitude in approaching the matter has made an excellent impression upon the ratepayers. The work will probably entail an increased rate, but that should not be regarded as a hardship in view of the tremendous improvement it will bring to the town.
