ALBANIAN LOVE.

AN ABDUCTION TRAGEDY. THREE KILLED IN AFFAIR. BELGRADE. An Albanian love affair led to a terrible tragedy in which three lives were lost last week in Fetch (Ipek), near the Albanian frontier of Yugoslavia. An Albanian called Abdullah Braimoviteh had planned to emigrate to Albania, taking with him all his family. His sister, Zada, was also to accompany him, 'because Sa-id Sulyevitch, a youth from a neighbouring village, to whom she had been betrothed, was too poor to pay the bride price. A farewell feast, to which all his relations and friends were invited, was held at Abdullah's house oil the night prior to their intended departure. When the last visitors had dispersed Sa-id, who had been waiting in ambush with four armed companions, entered the house and attempted to abduct Zada. Before he could carry her oif her small sister gave the alarm. Her brother-in-law, Tsena, rushing to protect her, was immediately shot dead by Sa-id. Abdullah then appeared, and a terrible fight ensued between the two, in which each killed the other.

A poignant and characteristically Albanian'epiloguo was that the four companions' then carried off the weeping Zada to the house of vSa-id's. parents some miles away. They announced that Sa-id was dead, but that they had fulfilled their duty in capturing tlio girl, who must not be given in marriage to another cn pain of death. They then succeeded in making their escape in the darkness, and have not yet been found by the ooliee.
