EUROPE TO CALIFORNIA.
IN THREE AND . A HALF DAYS. With the arrival in San Francisco of four passengers who flew across the Atlantic in the dirigible V on Hinden--1 burg, the first 3i-day crossing from Europe to the Pacific Coast in the U.S.A. was accomplished as a forerunner of ' express service from Europe to the Orient with trans-Pacific air passenger ' service this autumn, says a bulletin received to-day from United Air Lines. Passengers who left Europe on a Thursday arrived in New York on Saturday morning and, after clearing the Customs, boarded a United Air Lines 'plane which made an overnight flight to San Francisco and Los Angeles, embarkation points for trans-Pacific steamers. This all-air service, the dirigible to Xew York and United Air Lines to Pacific Coast cities, saves six days over the fastest surface transportation. United Air Lines is offering through air tickets from Pacific Coast points to Frankfurt, Germain'. The one-way fare from San Francisco to Frankfurt is 560 dollars (£ll3 10/ at par). This rate applies for the 10 round trips of the Zeppelin to be operated between now and October.
