CITY MEAT DEPOT. SUPPLIES FOR WINTER. SUSTENANCE MEN ONLY. Following a deputation of representatives of the .Unemployed Workers' Movement, which waited upon the Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, on Monday, the Auckland Metropolitan Relief Committee this morning decided that the meat depot at Freeman's Bay; which closed on Friday lafit, should be reopened again on Friday of this week and continue as previously until the l'irst week in September next. On Monday speakers of the deputation had pointed out that the closing of the depot meant imposing great hardship upon the unemployed. None of the members of the committee this morning was against continuing the depot, but tliey agreed that the meat should be available only to married men receiving sustenance, and not to men on relief or to single men.

On the motion of the chairman, the Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, it was decided to urge the Government to keep the. 'jneat depot open until September, the meat to be supplied only to married men on sustenance. It was also decided, on the motion of Mr. T. McNal), that the committee carry on the meat depot until a reply was received from the Government. The Rev. T. Halliday said the depot would be open from Tuesdays to I' rida vs each week. Up to the present the quantity of meat dispensed had been about 30001b weekly.
