AUSTRALIAN INDUSTRIALS ADVANCE. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Though most values on Exchange showed an upward tendency, the outstanding feature was a rise of 3/ and 2/11 in prices paid for Broken Hill Propvietarys following the substantial improvement noted in Australia yesterday afternoon. Parcels totalling 450 shares changed hands locally this morning, and the market closed with buyers at £3 13/1 and sellers at £3 13/2. Fair activity marked the call, but banks and Government issues were quiet. National Insurance again looked firmer, the market closing from 18/1 to 18/3, though no business was done. Apart from Broken Hills, miscellaneous stocks were quieter than yesterday, though the values of Australian issues moved ahead. Buyers of Australian Glass went to £.4 12/ (the level of last business), but the nearest seller was at £4 13/3. Kauri Timbers seemed better. Htime Pipes recovered to 19/7. New Zealand company shares were quiet and mostly unchanged. Woolwovths firmed on buying otters of £S 10/. Mount Morgans staged a good recovery of 4d to dealings and further buyers at 14/6. King Solomons were quoted on a very weak market, with sellers at 2/ and buyers at 1/. Consistent attention to several unlisted stocks has been a feature of recent calls. Selfridges (Australasia), new issue, moved ahead to £1 5/3, with more wanted at that rate. Perpetual Forests were steady, and Shillings again advanced, selling at a premium of 2/11 for the 7/6 paid scrip. Woolworths (Sydney) were quoted from £5 7/3 to £5 8/6.
