NEW WOMEN'S CLUB
Mrs. G. Dyson addressed members on Friday afternoon on thc endowment of motherhood. Pointing out that the days had gone by when children could earn their own living, she stressed the fact that the children of to-day were the State of to-morrow, and that as the State claimed the right to conscript its people in times of national emergency, it should recognise its duty to provide for the future citizens during their years of dependence. Mrs. Sexton, wife of the independent member for Frankton, also said a few words in favour of the universal endowment of motherhood.
Mrs. G. Barrett followed with a brief talk 011 "Women in Parliament." If, the speaker said, intelligent, tactful women, with clear brains, logical reasoning powers and a keen insight into national 11 flairs would present themselves with a definite platform, the value of their diverse point of view in public office c'ould not be over-estimated, and women as a se-V should support them cn masse. Mrs. Darlow presided and hostesses for the afternoon were Mosdames Newcombe, A. E. Cash more, H. A. Wild and R. W. Archer.
