OLD STATION SITE.
FENCING OF THE AREA,
PROVISION . FOR CAR PARKING.
A start was made by the Auckland City Council to-day with the fencing off of the old station site preparatory to its development as a parking area for motor cars. Ultimately the intention is to develop the area as a terminal for buses and long-distance transport, but a good proportion of the area will be retained for the use of private cars. Under the initial scheme it is proposed to carry out a certain amount of levelling of the site and make a charge for parking on the area, which has become popular in recent months as a free parking area.
