PORTABLE POST OFFICE. British Official Wireless. (Received 9.30 a.m.) RUGBY, May 24. Interesting developments which will be introduced shortly by Post Oflice authorities include a method by which emergency telephone calls are to receive priority and instant response; establishment of postal inquiry bureaux in large towns; and introduction of mobile post offices, to be hauled by tractors to important functions and sports meetings. The coach will be equipped with modern instruments for transmission of telegrams and will be connected with the nearest telegraph office by temporary cables. There will be two telephones with access at the rear of the coach, also stamp-vending machines and a letterbox. Collection of letters and parcels will be made as from an ordinary post office. I
