SWEPT OFF LEDGE.

DOUBLE FISHING TRAGEDY. (Received 9.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. A man and a woman who have not been identified were washed off the cliffs near Bronte and drowned. It is believed that the man was fishing and that the woman was looking on from a higher ledge when the man was engulfed a wave. He was a strong swimmer and tried for half an hour to reach the rocks, watched by people at the top of the cliff who were not able to help him. Finally he waved farewell and sank. The woman descended the rocks and apparently tried to seize the man. She was swept into the sea.
