Details of tlfe new Public Works workers' agreement to apply to the whole of the Public Works workers in New Zealand are published in ''The Standard." which states that the agreement will deal with the s following matters: Rates of pay; working week and hours of work; wet places; overtime; camp shifting time; locality allowance; provision of tools; cement handling; gumboots; slips and washaways; cooperative contracts; payments; statutory holidays and annual leave; leaving certificate; dangerous places: accidents: shot-3r:ng; horse hire; underground ventilation; accommodation; recreation halis; cookhouses and canteens; fuel; smoke-o; works Hearing completion; transl'ei of workmen; grievances, preference to unionists; scope of agreement and duration. "We will shortly have an agreement that will assure the workers and their dependents of a fair standard of living." says "The Standard." "It is now up to (he union and the workers it represents to play their part in building New Zealand. We must all pull together in order to prove to our bitter opponents, who are violently attacking the Government's policy, that the workers on public works appreciate what the Labour Government has done for them.
