NEW PRESIDENT.
PREMIER ALMOST CERTAIN. (Received 10.30 a.m.) MADRID, April 30. The predominant Leftist parties have proclaimed the Premier, Senor Azana, their candidate for the Presidency. His election is regarded as certain since the Rightists are not participating on the ground of persecution and deprivation of constitutional rights.
A special Court, in acquitting a number of Fascists charged with illegal association, announced that, although evidence had shown that there had been disturbances there were no grounds for dissolution of the Fascist organisation.
Strikers who took over the largest brewery in Spain when the management walked out of the premises following a dispute over employment of two Fascist workers, relinquished control of the business to their employers, who agreed to the dismissal of the manager and to remedying the men's other claims.
ON ROYAL YACHT,
KING TO VISIT RIVIERA. , (Received 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, April 30. The "Daily Mail" says King Edward VIII. intends to visit the Mediterranean and the Riviera in the course of his summer holiday, and adds that, it is known that the Royal yacht Victoria and Albert has been ordered ready for service.
