WARDING PROSECUTION.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, Thursday.

"There is great danger in the use of rifles on public roads, and if the practice is not stopped someone may be injured," stated Mr. F. 11. Levien, S.M., in the Pukekohe Court to-day when Ivan R. George and Isla Watkins were each charged "with discharging .22 rifles on the main highway at Pokeno. Mr. T. C. Clissold said that he saw defendants on the road with rifles, as he approached they raised the rifles and fired at rabbits in neighbouring paddocks. He said that lie had only brought the cases as a warning to others who shot rabbits from the road or in the vicinity of roads. Most people not aware that the shooting constituted

an offence. Both defendants were convicted and ordered to pay 12/ costs.
