The Rent Restriction Act, r " extended by the Rent Restriction Continuance Act, 1027. repealed Pan I of "the War Legislation Amendment Act, 1916 but stated that a magistrate had power, when a tenant applied to him to re-enforce the provisions of Part I. ot the last-named Act if he was satisfie . that more hardship would be done to the tenant by ejection from the house than would be done to the landlord by leavin" the tenant in possession. Two" such applications were made successfully in the cases heard to-day.
