RACING AT PAEROA.

OHINEMURI CLUB.

Golden Sheila Wins—Master Musk Home in Hurdles.

The weather is fine for the second day of the Ohinemuri Jockey Club's annual meeting at Paeroa to-day. There is a large attendance anid the track is in excellent order.

Queen's Counsel was the only withdrawal from the Waitekauri Handicap, and in a good betting race the best backed were Philemup, Golden Sheila and Palustre. Alytli and Lady Archer were slow away and lost a good deal of "■round, the early leaders along the ba-ek being Philemup, Golden Blonde, Marjory Daw, Summary, Melvanui, Golden Sheila, Palustre 1 and- Chaytor. There was no alteration across the top and Philemup led into the straight from Marjory Daw, Palustre, Golden Blonde, Golden Sheila and Summary. A rare finish then ensued, Golden Sheila just getting up to beat Pllilemup by a neck, with Golden Blonde a short head away, third. Marjory Daw, Alytli, Palustre, Athea, Summary and Lone Flier were next. An Effortless Victory. The withdrawal of British Columbia from the Second Handicap Hurdles left a field of six, and when the machine was balanced most support was accorded Master Musk, Racewliip and Modern Maid. Modern Maid, The Hiker and Clan Ronald were the early leaders, but The Hiker soon ran to the, front and led past the stands from Modern Maid, Raeewhip, Clan Ronald, Master Musk and Prince of Orange. Along the back The Hiker was still bowling' along in front," Wine followed by Modern Mail, Clan Ronald, Racewliip, Master Musk and Prince of Orange. Crossing the top Master Musk moved up smartly and was first into the straight from Modern Maid, The Hiker, Clan Ronald and Racewliip. Nothing had a-chance with Master Musk, and "he went on to win easily by five lengths from Modern Maid, who beat Raeewhip by four lengths. The Hiker was fairly close up fourth, and then finished Clan Ronald and Prince of Orange. The Hack Cup. Fourteen went to the post for the Hikutaia Hack Cup, and the favourite division comprised Con Fuoco, Arawa Rose and Ringsliot. A good start was effected, and passing the stands the order was Light Comedy, Miss Hornet, Valrent, Con Fuoco, Day Wind, Racette, Laudatory, Quaint and Le Chasseur. Light Comedy was still in charge as they raced along the back, his nearest attendants being Miss Hornet, Day Wind, Con Fuoco, Quaint, Valrent, Laudatory, Huskie, Racette, Le Chasseur and Leo Colossus. Light Comedy was the pilot across the top, with Miss Hornet, Day Wind, Con Fuoco, Valrent, Quaint and Arawa Rose next. The lastnamed moved up fast at this stage and joined Light Comedy at the turn, the pair leading into the straight from Day Wind, Miss Hornet, Con Fuoco, Huskie and Valrent.
