W.C.T.U.
NORTHCOTE. A meeting of the Northcote branch of the W.C.T.U. was held in the Methodist Schoolroom. Mrs. Hales led the devotions. Mrs., Hulbert read a portion of the Rev. Lionel Fletcher's book on evangelistic work. People's peaec mandate to Governments petition was signed by members. Mrs. Kay was appointed treasurer. PONSONBY. The Ponsotiby branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union held its annual cradle roll afternoon in St. John's schoolroom. Miss Read presided and wclcomcd the mothers and children. An instructive and interesting address was given by Miss G. McKenzie, after which afternoon tea was served. Before leaving each child was presented with a small gift, and an enjoyable time was brought to a close with' the benediction.
