HOSPITAL LEVY.
REQUESTS FOR REDUCTION.
CONSIDERATION LATER. Letters were read at this afternoon's meetino- of the Auckland Hospital Board from the Mount Eden, New Lynn and Birkenhead Borough Councils, the Manil* kail County Council, the Manurewa, Ellerslie, Papakura, and Papatoetoe Town Boards, and the Mount Roski'.l Road Board, asking for a reduction m the hospital levy. The chairman, Mr. W. Wallace, said he did not know liovv a reduction could be made in view of the heavy programme outlined by the board.
On the motion of Mr. E. H. Potter it was decided to inform the local bodies that their request woukl be considered when the estimates came before the board.
