BALANCED BUDGET.
N.S.W.'S GOOD RECOVERY,
New South Wales is to have a balanced budget in 1936-37, according to the anticipations of the Premier, Mr. Stevens. The news was announced at a meeting of the Loan Council. Mr. Stevens amplified his statement by announcing that the elimination of the State deficit in the new "financial year represents the biggest step taken by the Government since its first year of office. The improvement in the State's finances can more readily be appreciated by the deficits of the past few years. These were:—l93l-32, £14,230.000; 193233, £3,700,000; 1933-34, £3.200,000; 193435, £2,300,000; 1935-36. £1,750,000.
