N.Z.E.F. SOCIAL CLUB.
SMOKE CONCERT TRIBUTE. An enjoyable smoke concert was held by the Social tlub of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force at the Foresters' Hall on Saturday evening, when, in spite of bad weather, there was an attendance of over 00. The president, Mr. John H. Schofield, opened the proceedings by proposing the toast of "The King," after which all stood to attention with bowed heads as a tribute to the late King. Bandsman • Smith sounded "The Last Post," and all the members wore black rosettes. During the evening community singing was enjoyed, and items were given by Messrs. Rainbow, Harry Macdonald, Bert Gough. Mr. Walter Turner played the accompaniments. The toast, "The iNew Zealand Government," was proposed by Mr. J. B. Nealy. after which three cheers were given for the Prime Minister, the Hon. M. J. Savage, and "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" was sung in English and Maori. An apology for absence was received from the Mayoi', Mr. Ernest Davis.
