THE LAST POST.

HOMAGE TO KING. FUNERAL TO-MORROW. CEREMONY OF SILENCE. AUCKLAND ARRANGEMENTS. A solemn tribute of silent rcspect to the memory of the late King George the Fifth will be paid in Albert Park to-morrow evening at the hour of sunset. As the New Zealand ensign, which has been flying at half-mast on the city's largest flagstaff since Thursday last, is lowered finally at 7.37 p.m. (the hour of sunset), a party of buglers will sound the Last Post. The lowering of the flag will be carried out by Mr. Cyril Bassett, V.C., of Auckland. An interesting feature of Mr. Bassett's participation in the ceremony is that he received his coveted decoration at the hands of the late King. In anticipation of a large attendance of the public at Albert Park, complete arrangements have been made by the traffic Department for the control of pedestrian traffic. The Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, and members of the Auck- ■ land City Council will be present. The arrangements for the observance in Auckland of the two minutes' silence at 11 a.m. aie as previously announced. On the stroke of 11 a.m. a gun will be fired from Albert Park, and synchronising with this, buglers stationed at different parts of the city will sound one "G." At the conclusion of the twominutes' silence another gun will be fired, and the buglers, after sounding a second single note "G," will play the Last Post. The points at which the buglers will be stationed are as follow: — In front of the Town Hall; at the intersection of Victoria and Queen Streets; in front of the Chief Post Office; at the intersection of Hillsboro' and Mount Albert Roads; at the Three Lamps, Ponsonby; at the top of Symonds Street; at the top of St. Stephen's Avenue. The bugles and drums will be specially draped for the occasion. To-morrow there will be services in most city churches. Archbishop Averill has ordered special services to be held in all Anglican Churches at 10.30 a.m., and he will deliver an address at the service in St. Mary's Cathedral, at which the Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, and members of the City Council will be present. The two minutes' silence will be observed during all the services. Up till to-morrow evening the various forms of mourning for King George will be observed in Government offices. These have included purple and black drapings and the drawing of blinds. Government offices, however, will use blackbordered stationery for a considci&ble period. Already Government Departments in Wellington are using it, and local offices have been asked to forward their requisitions for six months ahead.
