*• MONTEREY FOR AUSTRALIA. I i NOCTURNAL HARBOUR SPECTACLE, g I The Monterey was practically a full ship when- she sailed for Sydney from \ Auckland last night. Her full passen- *- ser complement is 704 and she carried • 020 people, of whom 320 joined the liner at this port. Allowing for the fact that many of the foui'-berth cabins wore occupied by married couples and double f< cabins reserved exclusively by other passenders, she was virtually a full ship. li Owing to cargo operations the vessel did not get away at her accustomed sailing time, and it was 0..'?0 before she drew out from the wharf. Naturally there were many friends of passengers farewelling them, and there were very bright and happy scenes for several hours until sailing time. It was a beautiful, still night when the Monterey steamed down the harbour, and with her big hull outlined by hundreds of lights she ' presented a brilliant spectacle. - v m
