Auckland scored their second win by beating Christciiurch by 3,3s,'Kaiapoi third, over 10m behind.. At the start several boats were unable to keep on the right side of the line in the light air, Paremata and Auckland losing time by returning. Wellington was first away, followed by Kaiapoi, Hamilton, Manukau, Plimmerton, Christciiurch, Paremata, Lyttelton, Tauranga, Otago and Auckland. It was a beat of about a quarter of a mile to the mark off Bayswater wharf and all moved slowly aided by the ebb tide. Christciiurch did well in the light breeze, her sail setting with a good round iu it, which helped her a lot. Wellington, Plimmerton, Kaiapoi and Manukau were next to Christchurch, rounding in this order, followed by Lyttelton, Tauranga, Hamilton, Whangarei, Auckland and Paremata. It was a lead on port to the mark off Sulphur Beach, Christchurch increasing her lead to round it lm 20s ahead of Wellington, with Lyttelton lm 50s, and Auckland now in fourth place, 2m 3os behind. Four Leaders Move Away. A lead on starboard back to the mark off the clubhouse saw the four leaders move away from the rest of the fleet, but the wind was now very light and the boats were almost drifting. Christchurch maintained the lead, with Wellington second and Auckland in third place from Lyttelton, and nearing the mark she moved up to second, but it was slow work, and several could not stem the tide, all being taken wide of their mark. Auckland and Christchurch were now close together, and drifted round the mark. Christchurch at lOh 44m 435, Auckland lOh 44m 58s. Kaiapoi by keeping well up tlie bay did better, coming up close to Lyttelton and Wellington at the mark, which was rounded by Lyttelton at lOh 50m 38s, Wellington lOh 50m 455, Kaiapoi 10h 50m 4?s. A little better breeze now set in from the south-west. Kaiapoi, getting it better than the other four, moved up on them. Christchurch rounded the weather mark over a minute ahead of Auckland, followed by Kaiapoi, Wellington and Lyttelton, with the others a long way astern. Soon after rounding this mark Auckland, getting her spinnaker up smartly, boomed well for'ard, drew up on Christchurch, and half-way across Shoal Bay Auckland went past Christchurch to leeward and drew clear ahead, increasing her lead to the Sulphur Beach mark. Tauranga and Wliangarei were leading the second division a long way behind the five leading boats. Auckland rounded the last mark at llh 10m 10s, followed by Christchurch at llh 11m 20s. Kaiapoi was third some minutes later, and the others further astern. Auckland laid a good course for the mark, with Christchurch following her, but the wind was very light. Twenty minutes after rounding the mark the wind, after a short spell of calm, came in from the north, freshening quickly "into a good sailing breeze. Auckland went about to meet the coming breeze, Christchurch following, and both were able to lay for the finishing line after a short board. Auckland's Good Win.
