CHRISTMAS BONUS.
FIRST OF INSTALMENTS,
PAYMENT TO UNEMPLOYED,
A start has been made by the Labour Bureau in Auckland with tho payment of Christmas bonuses -to the unemployed. Single men who are drawing pay receive £2 2/, being the aggregate of 14/ a week (sustenance rates) up to January 4. They receive also 17/ each, tho first payment of tho Christmas bonus. The remainder of tho bonus will bo paid to these men early in January. In addition to the usual payment they will then receive 25/0, making a total bonus payment of £2 2/0, or two and a half weeks at tho work relief rate of 17/ a week, which has been granted to sustenance men.
Tho payouts will continue all this week and up to Christmas Eve.
