LOCAL BODIES.

MANUREWA -TOWN BOARD. The usual fortnightly meeting of the Manurewa Town Board was held on Monday night, Mr. W. T. Cox presiding., Several cases of driving cattle through the main streets were reported. Due warning having already been given, it was decided to prosecute in two cases. The Bank of New Zealand notified that it was deemed inexpedient to open a branch in Manurewa as requested. It was decided that the board should transfer its business to the first bank to open in tne district. It was decided to write to the Bus Com pany requesting better travelling facilities, the present service being considered inadequate during rush hours and holidays. The board decided to write to Mr. Kodgers, director of IZM, Manurewa, ex pressing its appreciation of his man; courtesies and help. In connection with a claim for damages by Mr. Ohlensen, the board decided to disclaim liability. It was reported that the bitumen on Hill Koad was disintegrating and being gradually torn out by traffic. It was decided t'o give the matter immediate attention. Leave of absence for one month was granted Mr. E. S. I'egler on the grounds of ill-health. It was stated that the combined bands' recital in Mr. Maxwell's grounds, which was postponed on account qf bad weather, will be given next Sunday.
