LABOUR STATEMENT.
SEVENTY EUROPEAN SEATS.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. A statement issued by the National Executive of tlie Labour party mentions that official candidates are being nominated for 70 of tlie 76 European seats, no candidates being nominated for the Bay of Islands, Kaipara, Franklin, Egmont, Nelson or Mataura seats. The party had no arrangements with any other organisation or party with regard to any seat. In electorates which the party is not contesting, it is stated, are men posing as unofficial Labour candidates, whom the party for various reasons refused to endorse. The party has no official candidates for tlie North Island Maori electorates, but for the Southern Maori scat it has derided to ask its supporters to vote for Mr. E. T. Tirikatene.
