CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING.
METROPOLITAN GUN CLUB. The Metropolitan Gun Club held Its monthly shoot on Saturday in ideal conditions. The attendance was good, there being 25 shooters. The first seven-target sweepstake resulted in a tie between A. .t. Hanigan (14yds), B. Bush (11yds) and K. Mason (12yds), with the possible. The trophy match was the annual 15target contest for the Pettit Cup, and W. J. Turner (18yds), P. Ncwcomb (11yds) and R. H. Bartley (18yds) shot the possible. In tho shoot-off Bartley was the only one to break the first five and took the trophies. A five-target gimcraek, back two yards each break, was divided by R. White (11-10 yds), A. J. Hanigan (11-10 yds), W. E. Parry (11-19 yds), D. Hyauiason (11-19 yds) and L. Francis (17-2uyds), with the possible. A five- pair double-rise contest conluded the afternoon's shooting, the result being a tie between R. White and R. 11. Bartley with nine breaks. L. J. Stent and E. Monteith were next with seven breaks.
