THAMES TROTS.

WAR PAINT TAKES CUP. Young Rodney Wins Twice-— Kenworthy Home. There was a fair crowd at Parawai for the annual meeting of the Thames Trotting' Club. Although the weather was line the track was slightly dead after overnight rain. All paraded for the Hikutaia Handicap and most money came for Roma Girl, General Sarsfield and Olax. Pink Lady was smartest to begin and led past the stands, from Roma Girl, Olax, Mapula and King's Knight, but General Sarsfield then put in a fast run and was in charge along the back from Roma Girl, with a gap of eight lengths to Pink Lady, Mapula and Olax. General Sarsfield and Roma Girl were still clear as the field turned for home, then following Derby Fame and Mapula. Nothing had a chance with General Sarsfield and he went on to beat Roma Girl by six lengths, with eight lengths to Derby Fame. Mapula was fourth, and then came King's Knight, Olax and Pink Lady.

A Big Dividend. Rose Marble was the only defection from the Parawai Handicap, and when the final figures were adjusted money was invested upon Nelspear, Pearl Parrish and Waskasu, but the winner turned np in the seventh fancy, Young Rodney, ■who returned over a score. Nelspear dwelt a little at the start, and Stalky led out from Pearl Parrish and Nelspear. Stalky was in charge past the stands from Pearl Parrish, Great Sonoma, Nelspear and Nelson's Glory, the last-named breaking at this stage. Great Sonoma then ran to the front and led along the back from Pearl Parrish, Young Rodney, Stalky, Nelspear and Waskasu. Great Sonoma dropped back across the top, and Pearl Parrish was first into the straight from Stalky, Nelspear and Autumn Lu. Young Rodney then put in his challenge and, finishing well, went on to win by a length and a half from Stalky, who beat Autumn Lu by half a head. Nelspear was fourth, and Pearl Parrish, Waskasu and Great Sonoma next.

Third Success on End. Only five started in the Thames Trotting Gup and the public installed War Paint a very warm favourite, with good support for Bingen Chief and Wee Machine. War Paint duly scored, and in doing so recorded her third success on end, having gained a double at the Auckland meeting. When the field setled down Wee Machine was showing the way to Bingen Chief, Our Peter, War Paint and Kewpie's Guy. They raced unchanged until the straight was reached, when Bingen Chief was just showing clear of Wee Machine, War Paint and Our Peter, with a couple of lengths to Kewpie's Guy. Halfway down the straight War Paint took charge, to gain the verdict by half a*length. Bingen Chief broke near the post and Wee Machine beat him by a neck for second place. Our Peter and Kewpie's Guy were next.

Public Right on Mark. Derby Fame was the only defection from the Turua Bracelet, for which King's Play,. Rockella and Rayon d'Or were the popular selections, and the public were right on the mark, for they finished as named. Alexis broke at the start and Rayon d'Or led out from Red Hope and King's Play and passing the stands the order was Rayon d'Or, King's Play, Red Hope, Eockella and Winaway. There was little change along the back, but crossing the top King's Play ran to the front and was first to turn for home from Rockella, Rayon d'Or and Red Hope. King's Play held on to beat Rockella by a length and a half, with Rayon d'Or two lengths away. Then came Red Hope a length further back, followed by Winaway and Mazda. Another Favourite Wins. " Gipsy Light and Kewpie's Crest failed to keep their engagement in the Puriri Handicap and the favourite division comprised Kenworthy, Proletarian and Roma Girl. Roma Girl, Mapula and Pink Lady were first out and passing the stands Roma Girl was showing the way to Mapula, Proletarian, Kenworthy and Olax, with Pink Lady breaking at the rear of the field. There was no change along the back and Roma Girl was fir6t into the straight from Proletarian, Kenworthy and Mapula. Kenworthy then challenged and finishing on solidly got up to beat Proletarian by a head with Roma Girl only a head 'iwny next. Olax was four lengths away fourth and then came Mapula and Pink Lady.

IA Double Winner. The withdrawal of Rose Marble from the President's Handicap left six to face the starter, and the best backed were Young Kodney, Autumn Lu and Stalky, the favourite winning, and thus annexing both trotting events on the programme. Groat Sonoma, Stalky. Waskasu and Nelson's Glory were the early leaders, and when they had completed a circuit Stalky held command from Waskasu, Great Sonoma (breaking), Nelson's Glory, Young Rodney and Autumn Lu. Along the back the last time Stalky was out three lengths in front of Waskasu, with a gap of a dozen lengths to Young Rodney, Autumn Lu and Nelson's Glory. Stalky, Waskasu, Autumn Lu and Young Rodney was the order into the straight, but once in line for the judge Young Rodney came through to beat Stalky by three-quarters of a length, with Autumn Lu a length and a half away.
