VICTORIAN WOMAN ATHLETE.
Members of the Melbourne Women Amateur Athlctic Club, premier teai in the Victorian Women's Amateu Athletic Association, have begun seriou training at the North Melbourne C'ricke Ground. Australian high jump chain pion, Doris Carter, proposes to alter he method of jumping this season and adop the "Western Roll." If Miss Carter is successful in learn ing this style, which is used by Jeai Shiley and "Babe"' Didrickson, tin American Olympic stars, she will be th. first woman athlete in Australia to per form the "Western R ill." Miss Carter, who also holds the Stat< hurdles • title, is concentrating on hei sprinting this season. Sprinting has beer the weake.-t point in the performances of this brilliant athlete, and if she can improve, Mis? Carter is expected to be a serious rival to the Australian champion, Clarice Kennedy (Xew South Wales), at the national meet in Sydney.
