WESTFIELD SALES.

Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd,

BEEF STOCK EASIER. GOOD ANIMALS SELL WELL. MORE SHEEP YARDED. Prices for beef at the Westfield sales to-day were a little easier compared with last week's rates and, generally speaking, they were on a par with those ruling a fortnight ago. Approximately SSO head *of cattle were yarded— n similar number to last Wednesday , * sale. Of that quantity, about 3GO were ox beef and the remainder cow benf The ox beef was of exceptionally quality in the majority of cases and the cow beef penned was also good. The high market values during recent weeks has induced vendors to clear a lo,t of their stock, with the result to-dav that there was a tendency of over", supply. This naturally affected average prices more or less, although any good lots sold readily at firm rates. The top price during the morning for ex beef was £16 10/, compared with £16 last week.

Calves and runners came forward m average numbers and the -market remained comparatively steady. Ther° was a fairly heavy yarding of sh e *n when recent sales were taken into account. Some of the animals were of excellent quality and, in addition several good class lambs were penned' Weather conditions affected the entr7 of pigs. Although the heavy rain continued throughout the day,- buyers in all classes of stock yarded operated freely. INDIVIDUAL LOTS. Steers.
