Tho British Board of Trade reports overseas trade for August as follows: — Imports, ,CG0,530,000; exports, £34,008,000; re.-exports, £3,810,000. Principal Increases.—imports: Dairy produce, £1,322,000; fresh fruit and vegetables, £937,000; tobacco, £1,030,000; wool, £473,000; non-ferrous metals and manufactures, £837,000; oils, fats and resins, £515,000. Exports: Machinery, £420,000; miscellaneous manufactured articles, £261,000. Decreases. —Imports: Grain and flour, £1,217,000; other food, £954,000; wood and timber, £523,000; raw cotton, £453,000; rubber, £473,000. Tlieso usually lay stress on the conditions of internal trade, but it is apparent that there is also a steady increase in overseas activities. However, there is still a long way to go before pro-slump figures are reached. In tne liret nine months of 1930 exports and imports totalled nearly £1,300,000,000.
