GARAGE BURGLARY.
ALLEGATION IN COURT. ADJOURNED MAINTENANCE SUIT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. When a maintenance case against Richard Edward Green, donor of the clock towers at Sumner and New Brighton, was resumed in the Magistrate's Court this morning, it was stated that Green's garage, in front of his house in Springfield Road, was broken into, £400 in cash stolen and an attempt made to set fire to his car. The £400 involved was a sum which Green had received from the sale of an annuity. When a maintenance claim, ■ 011 behalf of a son in Sydney, was ' before the Court early this month, it was adjourned to allow Green to invest < the amount in an annuity for his wife. 1 When the case came before Mr. F. F. Reid, S.M., this morning, and the allega- , tions were placed before him, the case J was adjourned until November 18, pernio ing the result of police inquiries. J An order was made early this year , against Green of £1 a week, maintenance ' for his daughter. At that time Green ( had "two annuities in respect of his ] own life.
