PRINCE CAUGHT.
INTERVIEW IN CABIN. PLEASED WITH ISLANDS. MEMBER OF SAXON HOUSE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A few weeks ago there passed through Wellington, on his way to Tahiti, Prince Karl von Schoenburg Waldenburg, who is rela'ted to the ex-King of Spain and j is a member of the former Eoyal House of Saxony. The prince, who has a very retiring disposition, followed his usual practice of avoiding publicity and, although he was tracked over a considerable part of the city successfully eluded Press interviewers. This morning ho returned from the Islands by the Maunganui and while the vessel was steaming to her berth a "Post" reporter called on the prince in his cabin. He had only donned his underwear when he invited the reporter to come in, but he was not in the least embarrassed and after the usual introduction smiled and said, "I have nothing to say. lam only good for Hollywood, according to you." He explained that one New Zealand newspaper referred to him in that light when he passed through before. He said he had been living in Rome for the last 20 years. One of his ambitions was to visit the South Sea Islands and when the opportunity arose he took it. He was much impressed and hoped to make a return visit. When the reporter first addressed him as "Your Highness," be replied, "I am not that." Then, after a pause, during which he pulled 011 a silk sock, he added, "Oh, well, perhaps I am." During the whole interview ho casually went on dressing himself, and it was not till he had carefully tied the knot in his tie that lie bade the interviewer good-bye. The House of Saxony was disbanded in 1918. The prince is about 35. Ho is fair and slim and lias a commanding personality and speaks English. 1 -
