ON 'CHANGE.
WEEK OPENS QUIETLY. FOUR SALES AT FIRST CALL. Local investors failed to follow the London trend and business opened very quietly, with only four sales recorded at the first call. In the banking section New South AVales had the first sale for a fortnight, and changed hands 15/ lower, at £31 5/, after which the market rested between £31 and £32. New Zealands had fresh business at £2 9/9, and more wanted. Commercials were close to business from 10/5 to 16/0. Insurances were fairly steady, with buyers for A.P.A.'s at £1 0/3, New Zealands at £3 2/ and South British at £4 10/. In miscellaneous groups bidding was steady at about late rates, and with few special features. Government stocks were in demand for all issues but vendors held off, and the only offerings were a parcel of Rural at £104 10/ and of '43-'46 at £106. Quiet Noon Call. Things were very quiet at the noon call, there being only three sales. But few of this morning's quotations were changed, and the tone of the market was dull. The sale of Commercial Banks at 16/6 was a rise of 3d over the previous one, while quotations remain between 10/5 and 16/7. Mortgage Corporations are drawing together. Buyers rose Id, to 5/8, while sellers conceded the same figure down to 5/11. The same amount, Id^separates Dunlop, Perdriaus. Buyers wilr give 15/. There is a hardening tendency in Zincs, in both issues. Buyers for Waihi Investments jumped from 13/6 to 14/3, with holders steady at 15/6. Other lines are unchanged. SAJ.ES completed. AT THE 10 A.M.
