GOLD MINER'S SUICIDE.
(By Telegraph.—-Press Association.) NELSON, Saturday. The body of Mr. Alfred James Barker, aged 55, was found in his hut at Maud Creek, Upper Buller, with a gunshot wound in the head and a rifle near by. Mr. Barker had been on the Maud Creek goldfields for four years. Formerly he lived in Wellington. It is understood he had been in poor health for some time. At the inquest, a verdict was returned that deceased committed suicide while in a state of mental depression.
