FOURTH GRADE KNOCK-OUT. NEWTON BEATS CITY IN SEMI-FINAL. At Carlaw Park on Saturday the rourth grade knock-out semi-final resulted in a decisive win for Newton Rangers over City Rovers. The contest, preceded by school matches, was spectacular in patches. On No. 2 ground Bond and Bond defeated George Courts by 11 points to 7. After both teaniH had attacked City pressed hard and from a close scrum Hutchinson went straight through and missed with the goal shot. Continuing to make the play, Ryan scored for Citv. Half an hour from the start the Newton forwards pressed and Neale cut over under the posts from a scrum, Sissons converting. A good penalty goal by Sissons was followed by a try by the winger, Fuire, who followed through an exploiting" kick and ran in under the posts, Sissons missing a "sitter." Newton 10, City 6. After the interval Newton, from an opening by Neale, went away with backs and forwards passing and Avery scored wide Ryan intercepted and scored at the corner. Newton 13, City 0.
