PUPILS AFFECTED.

TEACHING STAFF CHANGES. HEADMASTER'S CRITICISM. The detrimental effect on school children resulting from so many changes in teaching staffs was stressed by Mr. H. Binsted, who was recently appointed headmaster of the Papakura School. Mr. Binsted has been in charge of the Vauxhall School, Takapuna, for seven Vauxhall School, for seven years and he was farewelled at the school fancy dress bull held on Saturday night. In the course of his remarks Mr. Binsted said that the education of the child must suffer from so frequent transfers of teachers. He also said that it was to be regretted that in the Budget (his year £15,000 less had been sot aside for primary education than in the last vote. It was unfortunate that primary education was not receiving more satisfactory treatment. On behalf of the school committee, the chairman of that body, Mr. IT. Watkins, presented Mr. Binsted with a fountain pen and a pencil. The ladies' committee gave Mrs. Binsted a crystal vase, which Mr. Binsted accepted in the unavoidable absence of his wife. Previously Jlr. Binsted had reeaived from the and pupils a clocK. Mr. Watkins referred to Mr. Binsted's splendid work at the school. It was an unfortunate time to change a headmastership and the result must be upsetting to the children; but controlling authorities practically forced teachers to transfer, regardless of conditions. It was with general regret that the committee and the district saw Mr. Binsted leave.
