S.A. CRICKETERS.
TAKE HOME £10,000. PROFITS A RECORD. READY FOR AUSTRALIA. (Spccinl.—By Air Mail.) LONDON, September 21. Tho South African cricket team sails from England this week. The tour has been a great success. The team has been victorious in the Tests against England and the profits are a record. It lis understood that they are in the region of £10,000 and tliat about £9000 has already been banked in South Africa. Each of the players will be given a bonus of £50 above the contracted £225 per member of tlic side. One of the jokes of this happy family of cricketers, who have gone through tho season without a "row" of any sort, is that Bruce Mitchell (second in the batting averages) has come out top in bowling. This has led to a lot of legpulling from tho "bowlers' union," of which Cyril Vincent, the left-hander, is "president" and "Sandy" Bell a senior member. A number of the team have had approaches from Lancashire League cricket clubs, but so far no South African player has made a contract to play in this country. E. J. Crisp, the fast bowler, has been particularly sought by Lancashire clubs. The side, inundated with "celebration" invitations, on its arrival back in South Africa has to face five Test matches against Australia. It is said that Vincent is tho only member of it who is not likely to be available against the Australians.
