WOMEN STUDENTS.
AT AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE.
NEED FOR TRAINING RECOGNISED.
(By Telegrnph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The suggested admission of women as students of Canterbury Agricultural College, at Lincoln, was .discussed at length by tho Board of Governors of the college to-da*-
There were two proposals, one that women students might be admitted and a special hostel built to accommodate them, and a second that women instructors to be employed at the college might give short-term courses to girls, in which case the college would not provide accommodation, but arrangements would have to be made for the transport of the students.
All the members of the board agreed that there was need for such a training as would bo provided by a hostel for girls at the college, but several members said they thought such an innovation was outside the present functions of the institution and no funds were available for building and running <a hostel.
The proposal had been made by the women's division of the Farmers' Union, and a committee of three was appointed by the board to discuss the subject further with representatives of the division.
