TE AROHA HORSES.

NAHLIN DOING WELL. RECORD FLIGHT’S PROGRESS. Mr. R. B. Hines’ Nahlin has been on the easy list lately, but will be kept going in view of racing later in the season. Being a light-framed gelding, he does not require a severe preparation and may be carrying the black and gold jacket next month. Record Flight has now been recommisaioned after being indulged in an easy time for about three months. The Lucullus gelding is looking especially well, and if he strikes his best form this season should • register some good performances. He is a first-class jumper, has plenty of pace, but last season was apt to weaken at the - finish of his races. Elanui may prove capable of running prominently during the racing at Paeroa. His condition is pretty solid, but he may need a vigorous horseman, as he is a lazy track worker. Ocean Star has been taken out of training for a time, but is still being hard fed and exercised at Waihou. This four-year-old mare is a workmanlike stamp and with a good preparation should pay her way., C. E. Mallowes is keeping Desert Star Up to his work. He is expected to be a Btarter at Paeroa on Monday. Vai Watch is looking decidedly bright just now and has quietened down so Considerably that an application is being made to have her mime removed from the schooling list of the New Zealand Racing Conference.

The work of terracing the lawns at the Te Aroha course is well under way and will ..probably be completed early in November. When put into use there will be extra accommodation for over 1500 patrons.. The addition to the totalisator house is being proceeded with and at the next meeting the working of the machine will be considerably facilitated. Judging by the manner in which Mungatoon is putting vim into his track work he will not be long in striking form again. He is now being sent over longer distances and certainly stays well.

NIGHT RAID’S PROGENY.

Mr. D. J. Davis, of Phar Lap fame, who is now in California, has named his Night Raid stock as follows: Yearling colt from Eaglet, Maori Lad; yearling filly from Phaola, Maori Girl; filly foal from Eaglet, Miss New Zealand; colt foal from Phaola, Anzac; and colt foal from Cynthia N., Maori Chief.

A NEW VENTURE.

C. Gieseler, who has-been training for a number of years at Wingatui, has handed in his license, and his team has been taken over by W. Hancock, formerly the head man at the stable. Gieseler has been appointed starter to several southern clubs and his appearance at Kurow to-day will attract attention. He has been associated with horses all his life and it will come as a surprise if he fails to make a success of Ids new position.
