CHRISTIAN SCIENCE.
* LECTURER IN AUCKLAND.
REVELATION OF THE CHRIST.
An interesting lecture on Christian science was given on Tuesday in the Symonds Street church by Mr.' Paul A. Harsch, a member, of the mother Church in Boston. The main hall was crowded and there was also a large overflow audience in the Sunday, school building, which was served by means of amplifiers.
J /The subject was "Christian Science: I The Eternal, Ever-present Christ Revealed." The speaker said that Christian science taught that God was good, and good alone, knowing only good and creating only that which was good; that His creation, man, was of necessity as perfect and eternal as that from which he sprang; that the eternal and everpresent Christ, or manifestation of God, came to the human consciousness constantly to establish and maintain the true relationship of God and His idea, and to destroy the false beliefs of and about man. He pointed out that the door of consciousness must be opened, that there must be an invitation for the Christ to enter. He assured his listeners that the door of human consciousness once opened by an honest, earnest desire to know more of the Christ, Truth, could not again be closed by the mesmerism of matter so long as the presence of this eternal Christ was recognised and insisted upon.
The lecturer illustrated the appearing and reappearing of the Christ through the centuries to the present day to prove how this regenerated and restored to man his birthright of spiritual perfection and dominion. He also contended that the transition from the physical concept of man, swayed by appetite, often depraved, up through a more elevated and moral status to that of spiritual understanding, was entirely natural and lcfgical. This he held to be the road of spiritual achievement and endeavour all men must travel, and travelling this road, he assured his audience, brought health, happiness and an abounding sense of good.
A second lecture will be given by Mr. Harsch in' the .church this evening on the subject, "Christian Science: The Road of Spiritual Achievement."
