TOTOLA SYNDICATE.
FIJI MINING BOARD REPLY.
(From Our Own Correspondent)
SUVA, September 23.
Commenting on the statement made by Mr. Munro, chairman of the Totola gold mining syndicate, that the prospecting licenses had been granted not in the company's name, but in the name of three persons who had granted a free option over the property, the chairman of the Fiji Mining Board publishes a statement to the effect that "he has no knowledge whatever of the Totola syndicate, nor can lie trace, from the information given, the areas over which it is alleged that prospecting licenses have been granted to three people." In a statement of Government policy, which was given on February 15 last, it is definitely laid down that "a prospecting license is not transferable except upon conditions approved by the Government." Interested parties were warned that they should make themselves aware of these conditions before tliey came to any agreement.
