TRAMPER LOST.

SEARCH PARTIES OUT.

MISSING SINCE FRIDAY.

FLIGHTS MADE BY 'PLANE, (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WANG A NUT, this day. Three search parties, including Constable Rogers and Mr. W. S. Rennie, of the Ruapehu Ski Club, set out early this. morning to search for a missing trampcr, Mr. Ted Fyson, of Hawcra. Mr. Fvson left Westmere at 11 a.m. on Friday and at mid-day called at the house of Mrs. Ridd on tiie main Bruns[wick Road. At the house lie obtained hot water to make tea and stated he was going 011 the hills tramping at the back of Brunswick, which is rough country. It is thought that lie was making for Raorikia, 011 the banks of the Wahganui River. A Western Federated 'plane, piloted by Mr. J. Strachan, left at 5.45 this morning and searched between Paparangi and Raorikia. It returned after an hour and a half, but went out again at 9.45, the pilot intending to go through to the Waitotara River. Misty weather came up, however, and the inacliinc returned an hour and 25 minutes later. Smoke from different fires was seen, but it is believed that these were smouldering logs.

It was later learned that Mr. Fyson was definitely seen at the top of the Tukomaru East Road, and it is'believed he was making for the Wanganui River. There is a horse track across, and had he found this he would have had but a half-hour'*; walk. Probably he went deeper into the tack country.
