TALLOW, HEMP, EGGS, ETC. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. The Department o£ Agriculture lias received the following cablegram, dated September 23, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand: — Tallow. — Market firm; quotations slightly higher. Hemp.—Manila again dearer; market closed strong. "K." grade for OctoberDecember shipments sold up to £20. Sisal: Market continues firm. Mexican prices have advanced to £20 5/0; London parity on basis c.i.f. European and African No. 1 for October-December shipments valued at £25 5/. January-March shipments sold up to £25 15/. New Zealand: Value nominally higher in sympathy on the basis of fair, £18 to £18 10/. No first hand sales reported, owing to absence of offers. Eggs.—Market steady; values about unchanged. First small arrival of South African sold at from 10/0 to 12/6. Apples.—Market has declined. Canadian and American arrivals are heavy. Californian Gravenstein, 8/0 to 11/; Jonathan, 10/0 to 11/. Pears.—Only moderate demand; prices lower. California!! Bartlett, 0/0 to 12/0.

Peas. —Maples: Market has declined: fair business done in New Zealand and Tasmania. No. 1 New Zealand for September-November shipments sold at from 53/6 to 54/3; November-Decembcr shipments at 54/. "A" grade Tasmanian for September-October shipments sold at from 53/6 to 54/. English: Steady demand; values about unchanged. Blues: Fair demand; Japanese and Dutch at better price. Tasmanian shippers' prices outranged. Small business has been done on spot unchanged. Priccs £10 15/ to £11, cx wharves.

WHEAT PRICES. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, September 30. i Cargoes are quiet and cheaper. Parcels arc easier. Futures:—London: September, 28/ per quarter. Liverpool: October, 6/8 V& per cental; December, 0/3 M:; March, 0/OVS. SYDNEY WOOL SALES. SYDNEY, September 30. At the wool sales to-day 10,346 bales wero offered and 8762 were sold, 548 privately. Competition was keen and brisk, chiefly from Japanese and Continental buyers, with good support from Yorkshire on suitable lines. Prices were well up to those of last week. Greasy Merino made 19'/£d. The average price last week was £15 10/ a bale, or 11.7 d a lb.
