TAKANINI TRIALS.
ENG! GOES WELL. HIGH QUALITY'S GOOD FORM. The middle grass, with the poles 6ft out, was used for fast work at Takanini this morning and the going was in excellent order. Ebb and Flow was allotted an easy six furlongs, covering the last half mile in 56 3-ss. Glenacre and Nun Nicer both worked well while traversing five furlongs in 1.4. Engi jumped away at the mile and a half post, the pace being increased over the last mile, which occupied 1.46, the first half of the mile taking 52 3-ss. He did his work in excellent style. Street Dance and Dark Marble were given a similar task, the last mile taking 1.40. The first half of the mile was traversed in Cos and the pair were together at the finish. Anion ran three furlongs in 38s, while Surella got to 'the end of four in 525. Red Hawk and Flood Tide were companions over half a mile, which took 51s. Both were together at the finish. Ballymoney was three lengths ahead of Huskie at the end of six furlongs in 1.18, the former working pleasingly. High Quality, with an advantage in the weights, had his head in front of Tin Lap at the completion of half a mile in 50s, this being the best of the morning over the distance. Thangilamba, Lap Up, King Ara, Master Rex and The Hiker also did useful work. Greek Gold (P. Mcllroy) and Needful (W. Rennie) set out over four hurdles, but Needful dislodged his rider at the third owing to swerving on landing.
