TRACK GALLOPS.

WORK AT ELLERSLIE. SOME SOEID EFFORTS. KELLY RUNS SMART MILE. Tho weather was showery before breakfast for training work at Ellerslie this morning, but it cleared, and though dull remained line after the interval. The course proper, with Uie poles 6.3 ft out, was available for fast work, and the going was in fairly good order. No. 3 grass track, the tan and hurdle course in the ccntre were also open, and a few horses were schooled over the steeplechase fences on the flat. Tho Course Proper. Racing Lady opened proceedings by traversing half a mile in 53 4-ss. She was running on nicely at the finish. Over a similar distance Professional finished in front of On Parade in 55 l-ss. The former showed plenty of dash for a novice. The stable mates Caliente, Sir Abb and Gay Marigold were scut over a mile, running the first half in 54 3-os, and the full distance in 1.48 3-5. Gay Marigold (on the outer) impressed most. Hope Lass, who went off slowly iu front of the trio, was timed to run her last seven furlongs in 1.39 4-5. She was not unduly bustled. The best effort of the morning over a milo was registered by Kelly, who ran the distance iu 1.44 3-5, the last seven furlongs taking 1.31 3-5. He carried a light weight as usual, but his effort was a good one. Tybalt strode over a round, and was under restraint throughout to record 2.18 3-5. Air Lassie brought him homo over tho last five furlongs iu 1.11 1-5. Rerepai was going easily beside Zane Grey at the completion of half a mile in 55 4-ss. Red Flame and Etcetera were on terms at the end of a similar task, which occupied 55 l-ss, Tidalia and Prince Abb taking 54 2-ss.

Bayora, carrying a good weight, worked over five furlongs. She ran the first two in 27 l-ss, and the full distance in 1.10 3-5. Royal Appellant was timed to run the last five furlongs of his work in 1.10 2-5. This horse is in nice order. Express and Teddy Boy, after running their first three furlongs in 40s, were timed to complete 6ix furlongs in 1.22 2-5. They finished on terms. Gay Defence was too good for Sir Romeo over six furlongs in 1.22 1-5, Sir Romeo taking 1.23 1-5. Imamint worked with plenty of clash over five furlongs, which occupied 1.8 2-5. This mare will fulfil her engagements at the Taumarunui meeting. Tray Bit anil Gay Broney completed six furlongs in 1.21, finishing on terms. They were assisted over the last five furlongs by Te Broney, and beat her by a couple of lengths. Solas ran home from the five-furlong post in 1.8 4-5, and Persian Lady also sprinted, but was not timed. Psychologist reeled off six furlongs in 1.21 3-5, and Valmint strode over the same distance in 1.26 3-5.

Supreme Ruler, Chief Emerald and Ruling King were together at the end of six furlongs, which occupied 1.30 2-5, and Royal Brouey was timed to run five furlongs in 1.12 1-5. He could have improved on the time. Vera Acre pleased better than King Mestor throughout six furlongs, which took 1.23 4-5. Vera Acre looks well after her outing at Avondale. Kiltowyn worked over .a round, which he completed in 2.8. He ran the last seven furlongs in 1.34 1-5, and tho final lialfmilo in 555. Baroscope was responsible for a good oflort over seven furlongs in 1.33 1-5. Lady Diana brought him home over tho last half-mile, which took 53 3-ss. Baroscope's effort was impressive, and he is a possibility in the Taumarunui Cup, in which he will be ridden by H. Wiggins. Geniland sprinted half a mile in 57 l-ss, and Armacourt got to the end of six furlongs in 1.22 2-5, the last half-mile taking 54. l-ss. Gascelle was sent a round and came home in 2.14 2-5, the last seven furlongs being covered in 1.38. The Jumpers. Hawthorn (Turvey) started olf to school over four hurdles, but after clearing the first he balked at the second fence. He was tried several times afterwards, but. refused to jump, and was uot persevered with. Catoma (Baker) and Lord Val (Burgas) gavo a good display over four hurdles. They fenced quickly and cleanly.

Alantus (Stamvay) clearcd the steeplecliasc fencc« on the flat satisfactorily. This jumper is engaged at the Waikato Hunt meeting, and is a six-year-old gelding by Little England from a Lupin mare. Glenhaupo (Turvey) and Mountain Bruce (Stamvay) gave a safe display over the hurdles in the centre.

Parabola (Turvey) and Parkhurst (Craddock) were schooled over the big fences on the flat, and jumped well until Parkhurst came to grief at the brush fence by the old mile post. *

AT AVONDALE. F. DAVIS' TEAM. The course proper, with the poles about 40ft out, was available at Avondale this morning for fast work and the going was in good order. Plato and Senior ran a mile in 1.45 3-5, the last six furlongs in 1.19. _ Plato was about a length and a half in front at the finish. Haut Monde (alone) was given a similar task, which he completed in 1.44, the last six furlongs in 1.17 2-5. Heritage ran six furlongs in 1.16 2-5 and did it well. Abbey Feale ran five furlongs in 1.5. He was accompanied over the last half mile by Gay Cockade, who showed a lot of speed. Delrain jumped four hurdles on the course proper, giving a good display.
