LONG UNIVERSITY SERVICE
RESIGNATIONS ANNOUNCED.

CIIRISTCHURCH, Monday.
Two resignations —that of Professor R. Speight, curator of the Canterbury Museum, and that of Mr. A. F. Morrison, lecturer on mechanical engineering at Canterbury University College—are announced. Both have had long service at the college, Professor Speight for 45 years and Mr. Morrison for 43 years.
Sixty-eight years of age, Professor Speight was educated at the Christchurch Boys' High School and Canterbury College. He graduated M.A. in 1889 and obtained the degree of Master of Science in 1910, being appointed curator of the Canterbury Museum in 1914. He was professor of geology of Canterbury College from 1903 to 1930. Professor Speight has been at various times secretary, treasurer and president of the Philosophical Institute of Canterbury, as well as holding oflices of distinction in several other scientific societies. He is a Fellow of flip New /"friiind Tns< Hute and the author of numerous papers that l.u'"- appeared in the Transactions of the New Zealand Institute and other publications.
