AIR CONTRACTS.

TRANS-PACIFIC SERVICE. TOURIST TRAFFIC ANGLE. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Friday. ' The possible effect of overseas air contracts on the tourist traffic of the Dominion was mentioned by Mr. W. J. Broadfoot (Government, Waitomo) when speaking in the Budget debate in the House of Representatives to-day. He said he was very pleased to read that a proposal had been put forward by an aviation company to start a service from the United States to New Zealand about July of next year. "I hope that any technical or other difficulties that may be encountered here may be ironed out and facilities extended to this company to start operations," said Mr. Broadfoot. "It has been to our detriment that wo have been isolated, but this modern system of transport opens up wonderful prospects. It presents a wonderful opportunity of developing our tourist traffic. A traveller from the other side of the world would probably have to take three months away from his business if he made the trip by steamer, but with air transport a business man from America could do the trip through this country in three weeks. It would induce the busy man with money to spend to como to the Dominion."
